Every wedding is unique and special in its own way since the decor and theme are based off of who the bride and groom are as a couple. Since today is the Superbowl, I wanted to write a quick blog to show the different ways how our die-hard, football-loving couples can incorporate the sport into their weddings:
1. THE SAVE-THE-DATES
Take your save-the-date pictures at your local stadium wearing your favorite team's jersey. You can also have your save-the-dates look like tickets to a football game!
2. THE ENGAGEMENT PARTIES
Since the engagement party is known to be less formal, why not have a tailgating party for you and your fiance! This is a great, laid-back way to celebrate your engagement with your friends and family.
3. THE PROGRAMS
Have your ceremony and reception programs be a "playbook" for your guests. Title it, "The Game Plan," where it lists out the different fesitivities of the wedding day.
4. THE RECESSIONAL
Have your guests cheer you on with pom-poms as you walk back up the aisle as the new Mr. and Mrs!
5. THE WEDDING COLORS
Have your wedding colors coordinate with your favorite team's colors.
6. THE RECEPTION
Many football stadiums rent out their facilities for formal events and have their own caterers. In fact, I volunteered at Indianapolis' own Lucas Oil Stadium for the very first gala event to be held there! The venue was gorgeous, and the food was excellent!
7. THE GRAND ENTRANCE
This is great for couples who really want to have fun... Have the groom and groomsmen enter the reception wearing football helmets running through a paper banner with NFL music playing in the background. This will be a great surprise for your guests that makes a, "LET'S PARTY," statement at the beginning of your reception. You can also have the groomsmen wear football jerseys of your favorite team over their tuxes.
8. THE GROOM'S CAKE
Have your groom's cake be in the shape of his favorite team's stadium or even a giant football.
9. THE GARTER TOSS
Instead of your groom throwing the garter by itself, why not wrap it around a football and throw it to the boys! You can write, "Your Next," on the football with your names and wedding date as a souvenir for whoever catches it.
Hire the mascot of your favorite team to make an appearance and entertain your guests during the dancing portion of your wedding.
11. THE FAVORS
There are many favors out there that are football related for your guests to enjoy. One creative way is to give away personalized "koozies" that have your favorite team's logo, your names, and wedding date. Not only will your guests be able to use these at your wedding, but they can definitely place their cold beverages in these as they watch football throughout the season.
12. BRIDAL PARTY GIFTS
Give your groomsmen personalized beer glasses/mugs with a logo of their favorite team. Even cufflinks of their team's logo is a great gift. For your bridesmaids, you can get personalized blouses that look like jerseys with, "Team (bride's name)" on the front, and on the back their nicknames and favorite number. They can wear these as they get ready in the morning or the night out in the town during your bachelorette party!
13. WEDDING PHOTOS
Take pictures with your bridal party doing different "football stances" as poses. These would make great, unique photos for your wedding album that exuberate fun!
14. BUDOIR PHOTOS
Many brides love giving their grooms sexy budoir photos as wedding gift. It's fun, tasteful and guaranteed to make your groom drool! Why not wear his favorite team's football jersey as one of your "outfits?"
